Rembrandt exhibit is touring the US; Minneapolis to celebrate with events

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Netherlands Consulate invite you to events celebrating "Rembrandt in America."

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts will host "Rembrandt in America" from June 24 through Sept. 16, but the exhibit is not a simple display of Dutch masterpieces.

It is America's largest exhibit ever of Rembrandt's work, and so it deserves more than the usual attention a prominent art exhibit brings.

In fact, you can even be a part of it by participating in a weekend of events leading up to the opening.

On June 22, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts will hold a Gala Opening Dinner and After Party for the Dutch and American business communities, providing the opportunity for Dutch companies in America to promote themselves and network with the Fortune 1000 companies in the Twin Cities and beyond.

On June 23, the Netherlands Consulate in Minneapolis is inviting Dutch and American corporate leaders from the United States to network during an informal luncheon cruise from 12-3 p.m. on Lake Minnetonka on board the Queen of Excelsior.

With the backing of Her Majesty’s Embassy and the Consulates General in the United States, the consulate is pleased to announce the keynote speaker, Ambassador Fay Hartog Levin, the 65th U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands (2009-2011).

The Netherlands and the USA share strong economic ties, stronger than people may realize. Our economic ties date back to the days of New Amsterdam (today’s New York City).

  • 625,000 American jobs can be attributed to the Dutch economy and its employers in the United States.
  • Nearly 9,000 Minnesota jobs come from Dutch employers, including ABN Amro, Aegon, Akzo Nobel, Arcadis, ASML, DSM, Exact Software, Frutarom, ING, Philips, Randstad, Reed Elsevier, Shell, The Nielsen Company, Trouw Nutrition, and Wolters Kluwer.
  • The Netherlands and its companies is the 3rd largest investor in the United States.
