Dutch Embassy welcomes the Dutch-American joint-venture between Royal DSM and POET LLC

Royal DSM, the global Life Sciences and Materials Sciences company, and POET, LLC, one of the world's largest ethanol producers, today announced a joint venture to commercially demonstrate and license cellulosic bio-ethanol, the next step in the development of biofuels, based on their proprietary and complementary technologies.

POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels, LLC, is scheduled to start production in the second half of 2013 at one of the first commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol plants in the United States.

Tonight, the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC hosts a small reception to celebrate the announcement of this joint venture. Chargé D’Affaires of the Netherlands in Washington DC, mr Peter Mollema, welcomed the announcement saying: “This is good news for the people of Iowa, for the Netherlands, and for the future of sustainable energy. We are proud of this Dutch-American joint venture, which exemplifies our strong overall economic ties with the USA. Our investment and trade relationship provides 625,000 Americans with a job”.
